The abandoned castle
Last Sunday we visited the abandoned castle which is located in Muromsevo near Sudogda. Sudogda is a city in Vladimir region.
This castle was built about 1880 by Hrapovitsky. It is considered that Hrapovitsky built the castle under the influence of his journey to France. Many years ago there were several fires in the castle so now this place is abandoned. But before that in the middle of the 20th century there was a rest home in the castle.
I read about this place one month ago. My friend wrote on his webpage a short story about the castle. Also he shared some interesting photos. He was going there by car but afterwards he changed his mind. He decided that it would be better to visit the castle in summer or in spring.
The idea of visiting this place seemed interesting to me. So I suggested visiting the castle to my friends. My idea was accepted so we were going to the castle on the 10th of February. Some of my friends decided to visit this place. The others who were going to visit the castle refused.
In the morning of the 10th of February we met in the carriage of the train to Vladimir. There were five my friends (
sd3 ,
suriso , Zhanna, Sergey и Margarita) who had decided to visit the castle. It took us about three hours to get from Moscow to Vladimir.
As would be expected the train was late so we had to change our plans. If the train had arrived in time we would have had time to buy a ticket for bus at ten minutes to twelve. But the train had been late so it was a quarter past two when we arrived in Sudogda.
The castle was not far from the bus station. Therefore we decided to go to the castle on foot. We were walking in Sudogda for a half an hour. To the right from the road there was an industrial zone. The chemical plant “Krasnij chimik” was there. To the left of the road there were the residential areas of Sudogda. There were panel houses in the center of the city and wooden country houses in the outline districts.
Having left Sudogda and having crossed the field we came into Muromsevo where the castle was.
The castle was in the small old park. About four years ago somebody began to restore this building but evidently there was made nothing. Only most of the doors and most of the windows were immured.
Local children offered us to make the excursion in the castle. As far as I know they offer to make the excursion for many visitors.
We were in the castle. There was only one stairs which had not been destroyed. We took some photos when we were going upstairs. There was nothing at the end of the stairs. Most of the coverings were burned several years ago. The second, the third and the fourth floors were destroyed in this part of the castle. Also on the first floor we saw two abandoned fireplaces.
The second purpose of our trip was visiting the railway station in Sudogda. As would be expected the railway was destroyed some years ago. We found a closed wooden railway station in Sudogda.
Later we took the bus to Sudogda and then bought tickets to Vladimir.
It was about six o’clock when we arrived in Vladimir. We were walking in the centre of the town for two hours. We looked at the Dmitrievsky and Uspensky cathedrals and the Golden Gate.
At half past eight we took the train from Vladimir. We were in Moscow at half past midnight.
It was very long and very interesting trip.
